Bouchemaine - Chalonnes-sur-Loire Exploring the vineyards Val de Loire

Logo Loire à Vélo

This ride offers superb views and points of interest! The confluence of the Maine and Loire rivers is a veritable paradise for aquatic and migratory birds, with the charm of the Bouchemaine tourist facilities and its village at La Pointe. It also offers the lively quays of La Possonnière and Chalonnes-sur-Loire. And we almost forgot to mention the pleasure of contemplating the well-reputed Savennières vineyard, with its well-exposed slopes, prior to tasting its quintessence

Bouchemaine and La Pointe

Oriented, as it has been for hundreds of years, towards the river and its tributary, Bouchemaine - with its town on the banks of the Maine and its village at the Pointe - has been a popular fresh-air destination for Angevins since the last century.

Savennières and its Vineyards

Wine tasting break: discover the Savennières vineyard, growing since Roman times, overlooking the Loire. Notice the walls of the Romanesque church dedicated to Saint Peter – it is one of the oldest in Anjou.

L’île de Béhuard

Dismount for a few seconds in this ‘Petite Cité de Character’ (Small Town full of Character) where you can take a leisurely stroll through narrow streets lined with houses dating from the 16th and 18th centuries. Step inside the church - Notre-Dame de Béhuard – standing on its rock, sheltered from floods. ‘La pointe’ of the Ile, to the east, offers an exceptional view over the world-renowned Savennières vineyards.

Port de la Possonnière

Taking its name from an old measure of wine - the "posson" - the commune of Possonnière and its vineyards offer visitors a typical ‘ligérien’ Loire landscape. Take the time to stop off at its port, a place lively with traditional ‘ligérien’ boats such as "fûtreaux", "toues cabanées’" or "plates’" (different types of flat-bottomed wooden boats).
