Boucle de Parcay-Les-Pins Wild Anjou

This wooded, rustic ride on the very edges of Anjou is an invigorating one! Through lakeside pine forests, this route offers an energizing cocktail of wide open spaces, minor heritage sites and the discovery, ultimately, of the native town of a sculptor, a friend of Rodin.

Musée Jules Desbois de Parcay-Les-Pins

Born in 1851, in Parcay-Les-Pins, renowned sculptor Jules Desbois was a friend and associate of Rodin. This eponymous museum opened in 2001, and renders homage to this child of the land through a permanent exhibition of around a hundred of his pieces. Located opposite the house in which Desbois, who died in 1935, was born, this place dedicated to sculpture offers a tour through seven rooms.

Boucle_touraine_angevine : lac de rillé

The Lac de Rillé and its ornithological area

Also known as the Lac de Pincemaille, the Lac de Rillé is an artificial lake resulting from the construction, in 1977, of the Barrage des Mousseaux dyke, near the neighbouring commune of Breil. Covering an area of 250 hectares, it lends itself to the practice of water sports. Apart from the area reserved for tourism, the ornithological area at the Lac de Rillé enjoys an international reputation! Listed by the Council of Europe as wetlands worthy of protection, the Lac de Pincemaille is part of the Natura 2000 network, with more than 200 species of birds observed.

The Chateau de Lathan Estate

These huge grounds, covering a surprising 40 hectares in an undulating landscape, were created in the 17th century. Comprising two parks, the first of which is classical, in the Le Nôtre tradition, whilst the other is idealized, Rousseau-inspired 18th century romantic style. There is a very rare underground maze - an interpretation of de Scudéry's ‘Carte du Tendre’ (Map of Arcadia), which will guide you towards the Ile d’Amour (Isle of Love).
